Celebrating its 14th Anniversary in 2010, the AIM docboard was the only online physician directory of its kind when it was launched in 1996. The docboard is still recognized for its easy to use search engine. docboard remains the only combined database of all licensing jurisdictions that has its direct source of data from and controlled by state licensing boards and remains free of charge to the public.
DocFinder contains the licensing background and disciplinary information of physicians and other health care practitioners in addition to physician profile information from states that have passed physician profile laws. Very popular with consumers, docboard has been featured in numerous state and national publications such as Newsweek Magazine and The Wall Street Journal as well as national and local news broadcasts.
Access the AIM docboard by clicking on the “doctor bag” at the top of this page or by clicking here.
Administrators in Medicine (AIM), a not-for-profit organization, is the national organization for state medical and osteopathic board executives. Founded in 1984, the mission of AIM is to assist and support administrators for medical licensing and regulatory authorities to achieve administrative excellence and ultimately advance public safety. Services offered include educational, research and online services for its members. AIM’s public outreach is via the online search engine it provides along with board web links on its nationally recognized AIM docboard website.
Education is the cornerstone of what AIM does as an organization for member board executives. AIM sponsors a number of educational seminars including AIM Regional Meetings where board executives discuss operational issues. Its AIM Institute Educational Workshops – Physician Licensing, Profiles and Technology – provide an excellent overview of best practices and how to avoid the pitfalls - presented by an expert faculty of board senior staff and experts from the credentialing and technology fields. Its Annual Meeting educational program provides an opportunity to hear from national experts from a variety of fields impacting medical licensure and discipline.
In 2007, AIM, in a collaborative effort with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), designed a state medical and osteopathic board investigator certification program to provide comprehensive, subject specific education and training for state medical and osteopathic board investigators. The goal of the program is to provide a resource to boards that will give specialized training to individuals who are in the position of investigating complaints received by medical and osteopathic boards..
